Nancy O'Dell's first position in the broadcasting industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was a morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. In Charleston O'Dell's stories on the lenient police approach to DUI cases led to an State Law Enforcement Division investigation which resulted in the State authorities issuing the strictest guidelines regarding these instances.
